MAR DEL PLATA MAIN FISHING PORT OF THE COUNTRY
The port of Mar del Plata, located 400km away from the city of Buenos Aires, is the main fishing port of the country and the one with the highest growth. It represents 60% of the fishing industry in Argentina. It is also the main frozen fish, seafood and shellfish exporter. More than 150 fish processing plants make it the fishing cluster with the highest fish processing capacity of the country, and one of the biggest in the world.

Besides, it has an operation base for 318 fishing vessels of all kinds. Since 2001 it has had a constant growth and development in its loading system. Today it transports more than 130,000 tons and more than 5,000 containers average annually. It currently offers general loading services and it is strongly connected to the main international markets, with China, Spain, USA, Italy and Brazil among them. Its relevant roll in the fishing industry is not the only feature for which it is well renowned. The city of Mar del Plata offers an important hotel infrastructure, as wide as varied. In the port as well as in the city there are a diversity of cultural and tourist activities, which make Mar del Plata one of the most popular summer destinations.
