Tourist information of the city

History
In 1857, in Laguna de los Padres, people anticipated a future for what today is Mar del Plata. In 1877, Don Pedro Luro, who bought a saltery in bankrupt, built a pier and a hydraulic mill, and in 1888, he built the Bristol Hotel. This hotel with a capacity for 500 people, was what gave the magical touch that would turn Mar del Plata into the first summer resort of the coast.

The Promenade
The first promenades, as in most other seaside resorts, were made of wood, and after several gales, the present one was built in 1938 with the famous Casino and President Hotel. Massive tourism slowly arrived in Mar del Plata
